Cotman Watercolor Paper

Description: Finest-grade watercolor paper at an affordable price. The surface texture is created by woven wool felt and looks like the surface of wet paper with water squeezed out. Because the surface texture was made naturally and not created by embossing or a roller, the surface protrusions do not flatten when drawing and can be used for many watercolor techniques. Because of its reduced absorbency, you will need 2 to 3 strokes for a wash, but it produces great color.

Hot-pressed

Weight: 242g/㎡ (extra thick) ・hot-pressed

It is suitable for linear drawing style, botanical art, and illustration because of its great absorbency.

Cold-pressed

Weight: 242g/㎡ (extra thick) ・cold-pressed

Cold-pressed is the most popular for watercolor, but it is also excellent for pencil, color pencil, Conté crayons and pastel. It is well suited for techniques such as collecting paint in the indentations of the paper, lifting paint off and grading with a sponge.

Rough

Weight: 242g/㎡ (extra thick) ・rough

It is excellent for a beginner because it is easy to control the spread of paint and it takes multiple washes of color. It is easier to start with rough paper to learn the basics before taking the next step.
